The Marmara Sea is a northeastern extension of the Mediterranean sea, separates Asian Turkey from European Turkey, thus it separates the two continents. Bordered completely by Turkey, it connects to the Aegean Sea the Dardanelles Strait, and and to the Black Sea through the Bosporus Strait.

The Aras river runs into the Caspian Sea, in Turkey. The Aras river or the Araxes is a river in and along the countries of Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Iran. It drains the south side of the Lesser Caucasas Mountains and then joins the Kura river which drains the north side of the Lesser Caucasas Mountains. Its total length is 1,072 kilometers (666 miles). Given its length and a basin that covers an area of 102,000 square kilometers ( 39,000 square
